We collect nothing about you directly. Advertising and analytics partners do collect data, and this page sets out exactly which, what for, and how to refuse.
Nothing. There is no sign-up, no account, and no form on this site. We do not ask for or store names, addresses or phone numbers.
If you email us, we keep what you send for as long as it takes to deal with it. If you ask us to remove a page, we keep a short record that the request was made and acted on, because we need to be able to show we honoured it.
Two services run on this site, and both collect data about your visit.
Advertising and site optimisation are handled by Ezoic, which places cookies and may collect your IP address, device and browser information, pages viewed, and approximate location. Ezoic also works with advertising partners who may set their own cookies to select and measure the ads you see.
Ezoic operates the consent notice that appears when you first arrive. Your choices there control what these partners are permitted to do. Ezoic publishes its own privacy policy, which sets out the full list of partners and your rights in detail.
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people read each page, which cases get the most attention, and where readers arrive from. It sets cookies and records a truncated version of your IP address. This tells us that a page was read; it does not tell us who read it.
If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or a jurisdiction with comparable rules, you will see a consent notice before non-essential cookies are set. You can accept, reject, or choose per purpose.
You can change your mind at any time. The consent notice can be reopened from the privacy link that Ezoic places on the page, and you can clear cookies for this site in your browser to reset everything.
Rejecting advertising cookies does not restrict anything on this site. Every page remains fully readable.
We do not sell data. We do not build profiles of individual readers. We do not use anything you read here to infer health conditions about you, and we do not pass anything to health insurers, employers or data brokers.
This matters more here than on most sites. People arrive at these pages worried about a symptom, a medicine, or a child. What you read is not treated as information about you.
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask what data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to processing, and withdraw consent. For data held by our advertising and analytics partners, the fastest route is usually their own tools: Google Analytics has a browser opt-out add-on, and Ezoic's consent notice controls its partners.
For anything we hold directly, write to us and we will answer.
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. Some cases describe children as patients; that is a matter of what is written about, not who the site is for.
Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. These are not used for advertising.
