Who writes this, and how it is checked
This page exists so you can judge whether to trust what you read here, without having to take our word for it.
Who writes it
MedicaseHub is written and reviewed by a practising, licensed physician. Every case is drafted, checked against its sources, and reviewed for clinical accuracy by the same person before it is published.
There is no content team, no freelance writers, and no AI-generated articles published without review. If an article is here, a doctor wrote it and stands behind it.
Where the material comes from
Cases are drawn from four kinds of source, and each article names which at the foot of the page:
Peer-reviewed case reports. The bulk of the site. Where possible we use open-access papers so you can read the original yourself. The citation is always given in full.
Accounts patients have published themselves. Interviews, hospital communications, or a person's own written account of their treatment.
Contemporaneous reporting of cases that were covered in the press, checked against the medical literature where that exists.
Historical records for cases from before modern publishing.
How clinical facts are handled
Figures, timings, drug names, doses and outcomes come from the cited source or from standard clinical references, not from memory. Where sources disagree, we say so rather than picking the more striking number.
Where a claim circulating online is wrong, we correct it and explain what is actually the case. Several articles here exist because the popular version of a story is inaccurate in a way that hides something more interesting.
Where something is uncertain, or a case could not be traced to a published source, the article says that plainly instead of implying more confidence than we have.
What we do not do
We do not diagnose, and we do not answer questions about your own health. Reading this site does not create any clinician-patient relationship, and nothing here should be used to decide about your own treatment.
We do not reproduce copyrighted text. Every article is written from scratch, in our own words.
We do not use clinical photographs we are not entitled to use. Where a case has striking images we cannot license, we leave them out and say so.
When a patient is named
Cases from the clinical literature are anonymous, because they were published that way. Cases where the patient chose to tell their own story publicly are named, and credited.
We do not name anyone who did not name themselves. If you are described here and would rather not be, write to us and the page comes down, with no explanation required.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, tell us what it should say and point to the page. We correct it and note the change at the foot of the article rather than quietly editing it.
Being wrong is a reason to fix a page, not to delete it.
How this site is funded
MedicaseHub is free to read and carries advertising. Some pages contain affiliate links, which are disclosed on the page where they appear.
Advertisers have no influence over what we write or which cases we cover, and we do not accept payment for coverage.
